“p” Update: Beta Results

I did my blood draw this morning (13 dpo) and my first beta is 183! That is the highest beta I’ve ever had! (edit: highest first beta)

At least I think it is, because with my cervical ectopic pregnancy, I didn’t have my hCG tested until until 5 or 6 days until after my period was due, and I don’t remember that number.

The last two betas I was able to get at this stage in the “p” were 15 and 52. The nurse sounded very positive on the phone!!

She did tell me, however, that my TSH is slightly elevated at 3.06 when they want to see it between 2 and 2.5. I have no clue what this means and I am kind of worried but trying not to be. I’ll be going on 25 mg of synthroid for a month and then rechecking. I’ve never had thyroid issues before, but my mother has Hashimoto’s so it does concern me that I could have any autoimmunie issues happening while “p.”

It was the same nurse who delivered the bad news that my cycle was cancelled in August, so that made it really nice for both us to have this phone call.

  1. Yay!! Thank you! I go back Friday, Sunday, and Tuesday. Last time it was my fourth beta that went wonky so fingers crossed, but also my last time beta started out at 52 which wasn’t great.

  2. Awesome!!! Been waiting with bated breath.. That’s a great and ‘hopeful’ number. Whew, one more step in the right direction.

  3. Your high beta made me smile – always reassuring! I was diagnosed with thyroid issue when I started at my new clinic (my TSH was at 19!) last December. I don’t think you need to be worried now that it is being monitored. Take the synthroid as directed (in the morning an hour before you eat anything – screwed up my morning routine but so is life) and all should be good. If you have more questions about it, feel free to pester me.
